Jared Goff signs 4-year extension with the Lions
Goff's contract makes him the NFL's second highest-paid player
The quarterback has accrued $161 million over his eight-year career
Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff has signed a four-year contract extension with the team. The deal is worth $134 million, with $110 million guaranteed.
Goff's extension makes him the NFL's second highest-paid player based on average annual value, trailing only Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
Goff has been with the Lions since 2021, when he was traded from the Los Angeles Rams. In three seasons with the Lions, Goff has thrown for 11,462 yards, 88 touchdowns, and 38 interceptions.
The Lions are hoping that Goff can lead them to their first playoff berth since 2016. The team has not won a playoff game since 1991.
